John brings 25+ years of experience to Bonne Chance Farm, from maintenance, stallions, foaling, and sales prep. In his 15 years at Gainsborough Farm he had the opportunity to work in all areas, eventually becoming the barn foreman in the stallion barn working with such greats as Hansel, Sheikh Albadou, Labeeb, Shadeed, Quiet American and Elusive Quality just to name a few. With that experience, he went on to become the Assistant Broodmare Manager at WinStar Farm for 5 years working with one of the best broodmare bands in Kentucky.
John considers it a true blessing to be a part of this new adventure with Bonne Chance. Equally a blessing is getting to work with both of his sons Dalton (Assistant Manager) and Lucas (enrolled in Midway College for equine management and business management) daily. John currently lives on the farm with his wife of 25 years, Emily.
A native of Lawrenceburg, KY Dalton graduated from the North American Racing Academy (NARA) in 2015. He previously worked at Clearsky Farms doing sale prep and Regis Farms as a barn foreman. Dalton joined Bonne Chance in 2015 when the farm was purchased and in 2017 became the Assistant Farm Manager.
Originally from Punta Gorda, FL, Leah moved to Kentucky in 2008. She has held a variety of jobs within the industry since that time and in 2011, accepted a position at WinStar Farm as their Equine Operations Assistant. She graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2013 with a Bachelors of Science in Equine Science and Management and a minor in Agricultural Economics. In 2014 she joined Regis Farms, LP as the Bloodstock Admistrator and in 2015 was happy to join the team at Bonne Chance in that same position when they aquired the farm. In 2017, Leah became the Bloodstock and Office Manager at Bonne Chance.
Maria Carolina Lobo is originally from Brazil where she got her Law Degree and two Master’s Degrees on Corporate Law and Civil Procedure Law. She moved to the United States in January 2001 with her husband, Paulo Lobo, because of his job as a horse racing trainer and they have established themselves in California. She has worked with many Brazilians’ companies and horse racing owners being responsible for their financial books and management of their racetrack matters. She truly knows her way around the tracks’ many offices.
She has joined Bonne Chance Farm’s team since day one of their operations in Kentucky, being responsible for its finance department, planning, organizing, auditing, accounting for and controlling the company’s finances. She also oversees the company’s administrative and corporate departments, taking daily decisions regarding buying and selling assets, coordinating the employee’s department, being the company’s interface with immigration and corporate attorneys. She feels blessed by being a part of Bonne Chance’s team.
Alberto brings a wide variety of experience to Bonne Chance Farm. From 1984 to 1989 he worked at Agencia Paulista do Puro Sangue doing everything from bloodstock research to compiling catalogs and coordinating stallion syndicates. In 1989 he became the Partner Manager, responsible for Brazilian operations for Pan American Bloodstock Agency. During his time there he was responsible for the buying and exporting of horses to run in California as well as the organization of the two best yearling sales in Brazil in 1991 and 1992 of Haras Rosa Do Sul. In 1992 he joined Haras São Jose & Expedictus where he was responsible for the implementation of the International branch of the operation as well the new management in Brazil. During his time there he also coordinated with the Argentinian employees to build a successful breeding and racing operation, while also coordinating the importing and exporting of horses. His duties also included managing the US operation with horses training in California and breeding in Kentucky. During his time at Haras São Jose & Expedictus Alberto managed the campaigns of champions and group 1 winners: Siphon (BRZ and US), Romarin (BRZ and US), Riton (ARG), Seaborg (ARG), Sea Girl (ARG), Teeran (BRZ), Virginie (BRZ and US), Verinha (BRZ and US), Vyatka (BRZ), Vernier (BRZ), Afrodite (ARG), Be Fair (BRZ), Cheikh (BRZ), Chan Tong (BRZ), Cristie (BRZ), Coray (BRZ), Queen Desejada (BRZ), Canzone (BRZ), From The Sky (ARG), Moryba (BRZ).
Alberto joined Stud RDI/Bonne Chance Farm in March of 2009. He oversees and is responsible for the management and finances of the Kentucky operation as well as operations in Brazil, Argentina, and France. Alberto has vast experience in buying and selling horses locally and overseas across many different types of sales and auctions. During his time with Stud RDI and Bonne Chance Alberto has managed the racing careers of group winners: Uragano Point (BRZ), Anakin (BRZ), Nebbione (BRZ), Baruta (BRZ and US), Edittore (BRZ and US), Ekans (BRZ), Eiffel (BRZ), Finneon (ARG), Zapata (ARG), Hacksaw Ride(ARG), Frazier(ARG).
